Most Temples require you to pay obligatory dues in order to belong. At Chabad we believe that every Jew is already a member. We do not charge a mandatory, one size fits all membership. We have an open-door policy, where every single Jew is welcomed and made to feel at home, regardless of affiliation or finances.
But keeping our doors open is not cheap. We have bills to pay every month, not just during the High Holidays. As our programs increase, our budget has grown. We are now running a Hebrew School, C-Teen, Daily and Shabbat Services, weekly classes and monthly programs for Women.
A crucial element of our financial support comes from hard-working individuals who commit to a monthly membership that they can afford. We now have about 13 families whose monthly support covers a portion of Chabad's operational budget. As the Talmud says "Each and every penny adds up to a large amount".
We pride ourselves in operating an extremely lean organization and stretching every dollar. But still, we do not receive any monetary support from any Chabad Headquarters. We depend entirely on donors like you!
